Carova Beach Fire Station
Our second workday (road clearing) that was scheduled for was rescheduled because of rain and an electrical storm. Eighteen members participated. The road clearing is to facilitate movement of the tanker and other fire equipment on local roads, many of which were overgrown with brush.
Our members responded to a Mutual Aid call with Corolla to a brush fire in Crown Point. Five Station 7 members responded with Chief 7 and Brush 71. Duck Fire Department also responded. There was a strong NE wind. The fire was controlled with no structural involvement.
Station 7 members responded to a brush fire. The smoke could be seen from the Currituck County Courthouse.
We installed two new dry hydrants bringing the total to five. One at milepost 14.25 on the ramp road at Malbon Dr, and the other at Harmonds Pond (access ramp 19.5) for Coneflower Lane to Bratten Way.
Station 7 held its Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at which the members of Carova Beach Volunteer Fire and Rescue were recognized for their participation in training and their selfless response to calls. The dinner was catered by the popular local restaurant, Chili Peppers.

Station 7 held a work session. We worked to remove overhead obstructions for our Tanker 740 to travel on area streets.

Thirty-six members of this department completed the COA FFI / Personal Protective Equipment course. This included SCBA training in an simulated fire/smoke environment.
